| Veronese, Paolo (1528-88) Italian painter and Member of the Venetian School. He loved to paint enormous pageant-like scenes of the splendor of Venice with an abundance of marble columns and highly decorative costumes of satin and velvet, his preferred palette being the rich softness of pale blue, orange, silvery white and lemon yellow. As well as painting many religious and mythological scenes he loved to paint feast scenes from the Bible. |
