The Nikon 70 300 VR Lens Evaluation - Featuring A Brilliant Telephoto Lens Filled With The Latest Nikon Photographic Technology

No Nikon 70 300 VR Lens Review will be complete without discussing many advanced Nikon design elements that this ideal telephoto lens has, making it perfect for shooting things like wildlife, sports and portraits.
Just some of the features that this lens includes are Extra Low Dispersion (ED) glass and Enhanced Vibration Reduction (VR II), an upgrade on the admired and extremely effective first generation vibration reduction system.

For all those photographers available using a Nikon DX format digital SLR, the focal length of this lens is equivalent to 105-450mm.

Possibly the most critical characteristic of this lens besides its outstanding image quality is the Enhanced VR II vibration reduction. Telephoto lenses might be subject to motion blur (particularly in low light) because of the long focal length and narrow aperture that can be result.

VR II allows to shoot drastically sharper handheld images at slower shutter speeds, negating the use of a weighty tripod or other stabilizing element. There's also one more aspect of vibration reduction technology referred to as VR active mode. This is excellent for shooting on the move, such as from a moving car. If you like panning then the Nikon 70 300mm VR review has you covered too. VR Normal Mode compensates for camera shake but comes with automatic panning and tripod detection.

While the first generation of vibration reduction only offered an additional three stops of shooting, the second generation can provide up to 4 stops and the significance of this ability shouldn't be underestimated.

Nikon's Extra Low Dispersion Glass elements do a magnificent job of offering high resolution, high contrast images which really reduce chromatic aberration and other forms of lens distortion to negligible levels.

The Nikon 70-300mm VR also incorporates Silent Wave Motor Technology (SWM). Basically this technology allows the lens to possess quick and accurate autofocus but with extremely quiet operation. Many photographers will love this, especially the fact that the autofocus is silent unlike a few of the older, slower, more noisy autofocus systems of the past.
